Freedom

I looked about, my eyes covered in scars.
The stains of mistakes imbedded in me.
I was shackled in chains, locked behind bars.
Longing only to one day be free.

I trudged through the clouds that hindered my sight.
The air poisoned with pain.
Never knowing if the path I was on was right,
I walked forward in vain.

Then up walked beside me,
A man, a young boy at heart.
He asked if I wanted to see.
If I wanted the chains to fall apart.

I wasn't sure what He meant,
For the concept was far too new.
To forgive the ones I resent,
Would not only free them, but free me too?

I longed to dance as I used to do,
When freedom was mine to wear.
To see the world without a tainted view.
To be rid of the painful despair.

I fell to my knees overwhelmed with fear,
And asked with my heart full of doubt,
"How do you forgive an ache so near?
I'm injured inside and out!"

He knelt down beside me and spoke to my face,
"You give to them what I gave,
A gift of grace.
It frees you from being a slave.

It's a process, not an event.
It will take you some time.
It's a daily constant ascent.
A rigid upward climb.

You have to be willing and ready to fight.
Your anguish won't just disappear.
The hurt wont vanish overnight.
You will have to face your fear.

And just when you can't take anymore swings,
I will be there fighting beside you.
I will shelter you in the shadow of my wings.
I will carry you through."

I Asked The Lord Today

I asked the Lord today, "Where is life's exclamation?
Why have I lost my motivation?"
He replied, "Because your spirit's experiencing dehydration,
And it's weakening your solid foundation."

And I was like "Oh."

Look

Look up at me. Watch me. Study me. Learn me. Know me.
Look at my scars. My pain. My hurt. My heart. My love.
I wrote a book for you, because I needed you to see,
That this world has nothing to offer without Me!

Watch me. Study me. Learn me. Know me.
Look at my pain. My hurt. My heart. My love.
The words on those pages are full of truth and life.
They are my proposal to you, my bride, my wife.

Study me. Learn me. Know me.
Look at my hurt. My heart. My love.
The holes in my hands are there for a reason.
To show you my love is forever, not just a season.

Learn me. Know me.
Look at my heart. My love.
I felt that weakness that you feel.
I was there. It was real.

Know me.
Look at my love.
I was battered, mocked, torn, bruised and beaten beyond repair.
While my friends and family could do nothing but stand and stare.
They didn't understand, just as you don't now,
But I wrote in my book, this solid vow:

I promise that when all is said and done,
My father will announce that He is pleased with His son.
Heaven will be opened, and there will be a way,
For all believing souls to come and eternally stay.

I promise to leave with you my Holy Spirit,
He will guide you if you silence yourself to hear it.
I will give to you a gift of peace so do not be afraid!
Because when this is over, the ultimate price will be paid.

So, look up at me. Watch me. Study me. Learn me. Know me.
Look at my scars. My pain. My hurt. My heart. My love.
It was done for you.
